Author Policies

The Journal of Technology and Design (JTD) sincerely thanks authors for choosing to submit their manuscripts to our journal. The following guidelines are intended to assist authors in preparing manuscripts in accordance with the journal’s requirements and to facilitate an efficient peer-review and publication process. Authors are kindly requested to read and comply with these guidelines carefully prior to submission.

1. GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • The journal accepts manuscripts written in English or Vietnamese. However, all manuscripts must include an Abstract and Keywords in English (150–200 words for the abstract) to ensure international accessibility.
  • The manuscript must present original research within the scope of the journal.
  • The manuscript must not have been previously published or be under consideration by another journal.
  • All authors must approve the submission and agree with the content of the manuscript.
  • The manuscript must comply with research ethics standards, including the absence of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or falsified data. The journal reserves the right to use plagiarism detection tools and may reject manuscripts that violate academic integrity standards.
  • Manuscripts should be written in clear academic language, logically organized, and formatted according to the journal’s requirements. Authors are responsible for checking spelling, grammar, and overall consistency before submission.
  • All references must follow the APA citation style and be arranged alphabetically by the first author’s surname. Every reference cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and vice versa.
  • Authors must also provide complete information regarding: Author names and affiliations, Funding sources (if any), Conflict of interest statements.
  • All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process. The decision to accept, revise, or reject a manuscript will be based on the evaluations of reviewers and the editorial board.
  • To ensure the integrity of the double-blind review process, the main manuscript must not contain any identifying information about the authors or their affiliations.
  • Before submission, authors must prepare all required files, including the manuscript, title page, and supplementary materials (if applicable), to ensure a smooth submission and review process.

2. SUBMISSION PROCESS

2.1 Manuscript Preparation

Before submitting a manuscript, authors should ensure that:

  • The manuscript falls within the scope of the Journal.
  • The manuscript has not been previously published and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • All authors have approved the submission of the manuscript.
  • The manuscript complies with the Journal’s word count requirements.
  • An abstract in English is provided (mandatory).
  • All in-text citations are properly referenced in the reference list.
  • The reference list is arranged in alphabetical order and follows APA formatting guidelines.
  • The main manuscript is anonymized and contains no author-identifying information (for blind peer review).
  • All figures and tables are properly labeled and include appropriate captions.
  • The manuscript has been thoroughly checked for spelling and grammatical accuracy.
  • The manuscript complies with all formatting and submission requirements of the Journal.

2.2 Submission Files

Mandatory Files:

Manuscript (Primary File):

  • Format: .docx (Microsoft Word);
  • Must not contain author names or any identifying information;
  • Must include: Title, Abstract, Keywords, Main Text, References;
  • Continuous line numbering is required
  • Page numbers must be included

Title Page (submitted as a separate file):

  • Full title of the manuscript;
  • Full names of all authors;
  • Affiliations of each author;
  • Corresponding author details (email, phone number, mailing address);
  • ORCID iD(s) (if available);
  • Conflict of interest statement;
  • Funding statement;
  • Author contribution statement.

Cover Letter:

  • Significance and contribution of the manuscript;
  • Justification of its relevance to the journal’s aims and scope;
  • Statement confirming the manuscript has not been published and is not under consideration elsewhere;
  • Disclosure of conflicts of interest (if any);
  • Length: 200–300 words.

Optional Files (if applicable):

  • High-resolution figures (submitted separately);
  • Supplementary data or supporting materials;
  • Video files or other multimedia content.

2.3. Submission via Online System

All manuscripts must be submitted through the JTD Online Submission System.

Step 1: Access the Submission Portal

  • Authors must create an account (if they do not already have one) or log in to the system.
  • After logging in, select “New Submission” to begin the submission process.

Step 2: Enter Manuscript Information

Authors will be required to provide:

  • Article title
  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • References

Authors must also:

  • Review and confirm the Submission Checklist
  • Agree to the journal’s policies and terms

Step 3: Upload Files

Authors must upload all required files. During the upload process, the system will request authors to select the file type. Authors must select the correct file type to ensure proper editorial processing.

Step 4: Add Contributors

  • Authors must provide information for all co-authors and contributors, including: Author names, Institutional affiliations, Contact information.
  • The submitting author must also identify the Corresponding Author and ensure the authors are listed according to their level of contribution.

Step 5: Final Confirmation and Submission

  • Authors may include a message to the Editor-in-Chief or Editorial Board to provide additional information or relevant notes regarding the manuscript.
  • Before submission, authors should carefully review all entered information and uploaded files.

Once submitted, the system will:

  • Display a submission confirmation
  • Send a confirmation email to the corresponding author

2.4. Manuscript Review and Publication Process

2.5. Desk Rejection Criteria

A manuscript may be subject to desk rejection if it:

  • Falls outside the scope of the journal;
  • The writing quality is poor, too many grammatical/spelling errors;
  • Fails to meet basic submission  requirements;
  • Has been recently rejected by another journal (May be rejected if detected);
  • Shows evidence of plagiarism or self-plagiarism;
  • Does not comply with length requirements;
  • Required information is not submitted.

2.6. Acceptance Criteria

A manuscript will be considered for acceptance if it meets the following criteria:

✓ Scientific contribution - Provides new knowledge or understanding
✓ Rigorous methodology - The research methods are logical and clearly described
✓ Clear results - Results are clearly presented and supported by data
✓ In-depth discussion - Results are well explained and relate to previous publications
✓ Writing quality - The article is clearly and professionally written
✓ Research ethics - Adheres to ethical standards
✓ Independence - The article has not been published anywhere else
✓ Relevance - Results are relevant to the journal's readership
